Country Strong

Let's talk about the just-released movie “Country Strong” starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Tim McGraw. I am admittedly a bit biased, but I think this is packed with great acting and singing. The story line could be about the struggles of any singer in any genre, though it happens to be a country artist in this feature.

Who knew Gwyneth Paltrow could sing so well? I sure didn't, and not only that, but Leighton Meester,and Garret Hedlund sing their own songs too!

I saw a recent review which mentioned Garrett had taken guitar and singing lessons for the part of Bo. He had to practice quite a bit apparently, but I'd say he did just fine with the part of the hunky young crooner. The only one who doesn't sing in the movie is Tim McGraw!

Rascal Flatts Joins With The Jason Foundation

September 10 is World Suicide Day. 
Rascal Flatts has teamed up with The Jason Foundation to raise awareness about suicide, especially in our youth.  Suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death in young people ages 10-24 in America.
You can help by clicking on the link below and supporting the efforts of The Jason Foundation.   We all know someone who is affected by suicide.  It not easy to talk about, but
suicide has become the silent epidemic for our youth.  Take the B1 pledge and make a positive step to help with awareness of this tragic health issue.  One by one, we can make a difference,possibly in the life of someone you know.  Suicide is preventable.  Will you take the B1 pledge?

Fall Into Music!

     It's just about the end of summer, and although I don't like the sound of that any more than you do, there are some positives to heading into the autumn months.  One of best times of the year to find new music is in the fall as record companies gear up for what they hope is a lucrative holiday season for music sales. I thought I'd share a list of the releases I am aware of from some of the major artists and labels in Nashville.  I know I will leave off somebody on the list but at least this is a good start and maybe you can find a cd or two you can't wait to get your hands on.  I love when I find a release like that!  You know what I mean, those collections you play over and over on your....iPod or in your car, when ...

Presenting on the Side Stage...

Three weeks to go until the Country 102.5 Festival at the Comcast Center!
I am so excited to see Tim McGraw, Lady Antebellum, and Love and Theft on the main stage, not to mention all the events going on inside the venue after the gates open in the early afternoon.
On the side stage this year Country 102.5 will again host the Colgate Country Showdown.  This is the local competition and the winner will move on to a regional competition.  Following the many talented local contestants, we always try to bring a couple of newer acts to the forefront by inviting the artists to entertain you at our side stage. This year I am very excited to present 2 new acts I know you will love.

Italian Adventure

      You have to love vacations because it's the opportunity to “get away from it all”!  In my case, Italy provided not only a much needed vacation, but time away with my daughter before she heads off to college. Little did I know, I would be missing one thing on my vacation...country music. I listened to a lot of radio while touring Italy and visiting family, but never found any country music. No, not even Taylor Swift was heard on my cousin's radio!
