Presenting on the Side Stage...
Posted 6/23/2010 6:13:00 PM
Three weeks to go until the Country 102.5 Festival at the Comcast Center!
I am so excited to see Tim McGraw, Lady Antebellum, and Love and Theft on the main stage, not to mention all the events going on inside the venue after the gates open in the early afternoon.
On the side stage this year Country 102.5 will again host the Colgate Country Showdown.  This is the local competition and the winner will move on to a regional competition.  Following the many talented local contestants, we always try to bring a couple of newer acts to the forefront by inviting the artists to entertain you at our side stage. This year I am very excited to present 2 new acts I know you will love.
When I met Randy Montana in Nashville in March, I felt like I already knew him.  His father, Billy Montana, was an artist on Magnatone Records in the 90's and WKLB played his music.  I was music director and very much supported Billy's music.  He was, and still is, a great songwriter, with family in the New England area.  Randy is much like his dad.  He sings, writes, and plays guitar, but has been around the country music scene in Nashville for much of his life. Randy was recently featured in PEOPLE magazines "Country's Hottest Guys" article!  His lyrics paint a picture, and each song from the forthcoming project (out in September) tells a story. He even has Emmylou Harris joining him on "Last Horse".  I think you will love his rockin' band.  His single "Ain't Much Left Of Lovin' You" is on Country 102.5.

Sunny Sweeney is another name you'll be familiar with soon.  Her new single is "From A Table Away" and it's a very cool song about a woman who catches her guy "cheatin'" with his wife while she's on the other side of the room (he doesn't see her).  The entire project is "stuck" in my cd player in my car (along with Randy's)!  Sunny's soon to be released project is produced by Brett Beavers, who works with Dierks Bentley.  Sunny's vocals are full-on country, but the production is so contemporary.  It's the best of both worlds...today's country and classic country.
I am very excited to introduce you to both of these new country acts.  You'll get to see to stars in the making on July 17th!  Go ahead...google them!
