The Animal Medical Center of New England at 168 Main Dunstable Road in Nashua is sponsoring a combined blood drive on Saturday, May 21, 2011 from 10:00am to 3:00pm. The Red Cross will be accepting blood donations from humans, while the Animal Medical Center will be testing dogs and cats for the potential of donating blood to the pet population. Doctors and staff from the Animal Medical Center will be available to administer routine blood tests for donor pets at no cost to pet owners. The American Red Cross Blood Services supplies blood products to local medical facilities; and the Animal Medical Center serves the community as a regional blood bank for local veterinary hospitals and its own 24-hour emergency pet care center. Registration is recommended, but not required. Contact the Red Cross at 1-800-RED-CROSS, or for pet donation, contact the Animal Center of New England at 603.821.7222.
