In many ways, the warm weather ushers in thoughts of lightening the load--spring cleaning, shedding layers, shorter sleeves, and lighter hair. Read on, and color yourself spring- ready with these tips from one of New York’s hair apparent experts.
Joel Warren, Co-owner of Warren-Tricomi Salons (in New York, LA, and elsewhere), answers a couple of questions about spring color trends.
What color trends do you see for the spring?
I’ve been doing a lot of “baby” blondes recently in preparation for spring. Women bring in pictures of their children to mimic that irregular, beautiful color they have. Everyone loves going lighter with her color in the summer-- it seems more natural and looks like you’ve been spending time outside. Besides blondes, pastels are going to be a huge trend for spring. Whether all-over color, highlights or ombre – you’ll be seeing a lot of ‘unnatural’ color in the spring/summer months.
What suggestions do you have for women who do their own color at home?
I would encourage doing a test patch on your hair before committing to the color all over. The picture on the box is never 100% accurate and it’s hard to tell how a color will look with your complexion or how your current color will react. In terms of brands, L’Oreal Paris is classic and has the best formulas I’ve seen.
