Last week we got the scoop on spring blonde trends. This week, Gregory Patterson of blow, the new york blow dry bar, gives his tips below on extending the life of your blowout.
To make your blowout last longer, follow these simple steps:
- First, secure your hair up at night with a large top knot up high on your head (for loose waves), or two individual top knot buns for a more wavy style. Secure with hair pins or bobby pins. Think more Minnie Mouse rather than Princess Leia buns.
- The following morning, your hair will be up and ready to place under a shower cap before your shower. Blowpro Perfect Shower Cap is great because it's terry cloth-lined, super tight around the edges, oversized to fit any amount of hair, and it's machine washable. The terry lining will absorb any steam that may enter, keeping your hair dry and frizz-free.
- Before removing your buns, blast them with your blow dryer at high heat on a low speed setting. Allow them to completely cool and remove the pins. Heating them up will allow the buns to serve as a hot roller, enhancing your wave. Spray a wave-enhancing spray like blowpro Beach Blow texturizing mist to enhance the wave and bring the life back to your blowout.
If you find your hair to be a little oily, apply dry shampoo just to the oily area, which will get you back to refreshed volume. I love blowpro Faux Dry dry shampoo. All products available at www.ulta.com.
