Reinventing the Wheel

Aveda Color Options Eye Shadow Transformer

Allegedly there is nothing new under the sun. However, there are always those who find a way to come up with something new and innovative or to improve on a classic. See below for some unique finds that are quite impressive!

Aveda’s Color Options Eye Shadow Transformer turns powder eye shadow into either liquid eyeliner or gives it a creamy look for a bolder finish. Use a few drops on your eye shadow using a liner brush for eyeliner, a thicker brush for overall shadow. (Available at www.aveda.com)

Lorac 3D Liquid Lustre is a liquid shimmer top coat that can be applied over eye shadow or worn alone on the eyes and cheeks. Super shimmery? Yes. Glitter? No. A little goes a long way for a luminous, sophisticated, three-dimensional sparkle. It’s available in a sheer silver and a deep gold. (Available at www.sephora.com)

Lush Emotional Brilliance

LUSH presents their brand new Emotional Brilliance collection. The vegan lip colors, eye liners, and eye shadows match their color with your mood. Spin their color wheel, choose the three colors that stand out the most for you, and uncover certain words that reveal a little bit about your current state of mind. Colors include Passionate, Confident, Bubbly, Believe, Independent, and more. As with all of their products, their packaging is minimal with little impact on the environment. The bottles are glass, which is one of the most easily recycled materials. And they’re against animal testing to boot! (Available at www.lushusa.com)

The Cream Eye Liner Palette from Smashbox offers a lot of options in one slimline palette. Cream liner is a nice alternative to liquid liner (which can be hard to apply) and pencil liner (which can fade). It features ten shades that don’t smear or run. A little goes a long way, so this palette will last a long time. Smudge it for a smoky look, use a fine brush for a precise look. Available in Metallic or Proof. (Available at www.smashbox.com)

Cream Eye Liner Palette from SmashboxThe Professional Dual Pencil Sharpener from Sephora features sharpeners for both jumbo and slim pencils. What makes this one different? Each side of the sharpener has a snap on cap, keeping it clean while rolling around in your make up bag. (Available at www.sephora.com)

Every Drop Beauty Spatula is an itty-bitty rubber spatula designed to retrieve the impossible to reach remnants of your cream, foundation, lipstick, hair product, etc. from its stubborn bottle, jar or tube. The spatula is bendable enough to get product out from the sides, and long enough to get to the bottom. (Available at CVS)

The Too Faced 3 Way Lash Lining Tool manages to pull off three looks within one product. The tool looks like a mini three-pronged fork. This allows you to dot it in between lashes to give the impression of thicker lashes, use it as a traditional liquid eye liner, and use it for tight lining (lining the inside of the eyes). (Available at www.sephora.com)

Olivia Garden’s The Brush Cleaner and The Comb Cleaner removes not only wayward hair that ends up in in brushes and combs, but assists in getting rid of sticky and dry hair product residue. For brushes, the large side removes hair and buildup, the small side cleans specific areas. For combs, the rake removes hair, the rollers remove residue. (Available at www.ulta.com)

Panasonic makes it easy to keep a toothbrush close by with their new battery-operated Compact Toothbrush. It easily fits in a purse or make-up bag, and the cap covers the on/off switch so the toothbrush doesn’t accidently turn on and drain the battery. (Available at www.panasonic.com/beauty)

daniPRO Nail Polish cover both beauty and function with their nail polish. It contains undecylenic acid, a topical antifungal, to help with nail fungus. Choose from eleven shades. (Available at www.danipronailpolish.com)
