An unruly and unkempt brow can detract from even the most classic beauty, and regular maintenance is a necessary and worthy part of your daily routine. Good brow structure helps compliment your eyes and frame your face overall.
In sculpting their eyebrows, most people follow this advice:
First, figure out where your eyebrows should start. To do this, place a pencil next to your nostril and point the pencil straight up. This will determine where the inner edge should start.
To find out where your brows should end, take the pencil and, keeping it against the side of your nose, angle it towards the corner of your eye. This is where your outer brow should taper off.
Eyebrow expert Hibba Kapil, from Hibba NYC, discovered her passion for brows at a very young age. In 2000, she moved from India to New York at the age of 15 and began working professionally and perfected her technique. Fast forward to the present where she has of two spas in New York, one in SoHo, one on Madison Ave. She comments here on current brow trends and offers up some DIY tips.
Latest brow trends:
The bold shapely, thick natural look from 80's is back. The only difference is that it is bit more manicured and trimmed. Grow yours out and learn to play with brow filling items like pencils and brow powders.
- First brush them upwards and trim them holding scissors at a slant.
- Then just tweeze at a very minimum only the outside, don't try to get too shapley.
- Then use some brow powder, preferably a shade or 2 lighter than your brow hair color and blend it in with a brow brush until it completely camouflages.
- Just top it off with brow gel.
Brow no no's:
- Don't tweeze everyday, schedule it once a week. This ensures that you don't over tweeze!
- Always pull the hair in the direction of its growth to avoid ingrown hairs.
- Never try to wax or shave your own brows- it’s simply too dangerous!
