It's beginning to get short shrift between Halloween and the now two month long Holiday season.
There's lots to love about turkey, family, friends, football and more turkey. Add in a nap, maybe flipping the switch on the outdoor Christmas lights and some Black Friday deals and it's quite a great time. It's also still ok to say "Happy Thanksgiving"! It's a nice time to take a quick break from "Life in the Fast Lane" to enjoy the things in life that matter....family, friends, food and football!
The other great thing? You don't fret over what to get people for Thanksgiving. EVERYONE I know likes turkey, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie...or at least one of the three! The bonus: you don't have to wrap turkey!
Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Both of my kids are in high school!!!!

It's hard for me to believe, but both of my daughters are going to be in high school this year. One is a sophomore and the other a freshman.

Thirty one years ago when I entered Medford High School, Jimmy Carter was president, kids were wearing Nikes, a Sony Walkman was the musical technology of choice and the Jersey Shore was a beautiful place to vacation.

My kids think I roamed the streets with dinosaurs. I wonder if the children of today's high school kids will look back in over 30 years and think the IPad was like a typewriter, the IPod was primitive, and Tom Brady is an old geezer.

That's the way it works!

I hope they still wear Nike's, though!

What a great time of the year!!!

We're about to enter what has traditionally been our summer season. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, it's fun to be rooting on the Red Sox and this year, the Bruins.

It also means a return to shorts and shortsleeves, barbeques and sitting on the front porch.

I love to camp, go to the beach and, I'm embarassed to admit, wear my Crocs. It's all about comfort:):):)!!!!

AND.....all of your favorite country artists are returning to the area. My daughter Charlotte just attended her first concert without my wife or I. She brought a friend and because the Country crowd is so great, I caved and let them go in by themselves. SHE LOVES SUGARLAND!!! She even got to meet them and Jennifer Nettles was so nice to them!

So....have a GREAT, SAFE summer!!!

April...Opening Day, Boston Marathon, concerts!!!

The baseball season is underway, the Boston Marathon is in two weeks and the summer concerts are on the near horizon.

It's like a warm blanket in this chilly weather.

I love baseball and going to the park, because it's a chance to drive in the breakdown lane in the fast paced highway of life. Baseball is a relatively slow game, so you MUST watch slowly and take it all in. You can stlll text, talk and email....but you might miss a big hit.

The Boston Marathon on Patriots' Day Monday...(with an 11 am game at Fenway) is a chance to watch normal people do super human things. A 26.2 mile ride in the car takes a while. Running? It's amazing that people who go to work everyday, will train and committ themselves.....and 99.9 percent of them do it for pride only.

Once we get through ...

A Super Bowl without country music?

It drove me, and many others, crazy that there weren't any country stars who performed at halftime of the Super Bowl. Deep in the heart of Texas and no representation.

What a major mistake.
The halftime show got panned....for execution, lack of talent, poor performance.
That wouldn't have happened with Tim and Faith, Toby Keith, Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, etc.

Why? They are stars who have talent!

I'm sure you'll see a country flavor next year. Hopefully, the NFL learned their lesson. There's a reason why it's the most popular music in America.

Go Country!!!!!

TAYLOR SWIFT AT THE TOP OF MY DAUGHTER'S LIST

As the father of teen daughters, their Christmas lists are usually filled with electronic gadgets and expensive, trendy clothes. They wants IPods, phones, laptops, etc. Then come The North Face jackets, Ugg boots, etc.

This year, my daughter Charlotte didn't ask for anything "gadgety'"!

Atop her Christmas list: tickets to see Taylor Swift.

I'm not sure if Santa can deliver them, but I was thrilled to see her request. The fact that a young woman can reach and touch so many people with her musical ability and story telling through song really speaks to what a true talent Taylor Swift is.

In this day and age of excess and "stuff", Taylor Swift is a gift we can all enjoy!!!

Merry Christmas!

I've already got my Christmas gift!

Gifts during the holiday season are overrated! I guess as you get older they mean less. Time is the real gift: Time with family and friends, doing something you enjoy or exploring something new.

Giving is fun and rewarding and pleasant surprises always bring smiles.

My biggest gift this year was given by the doctors as Mass General Hospital. They saved a friend of mine who had a heart attack and was dead for 35 minutes. CPR brought him back.

He's still in tough shape, but his family has hope, he is still alive and his fight continues.

That gift, this past week, is greater than anything you could ever buy!

Give thanks for the little things. They're the ones that matter most!

Bring on the turkey!

WOW!!! The heavy rain has shaken the leaves off most of the trees and now I know November is in full swing!

We remember our veterans this week and then we prepare to remember the year on Thanksgiving Day. The days are consistently cooler and darker, but with that brings the feelings that the holidays are around the corner.

It's easier to go to bed earlier, the Celtics, Bruins and Patriots are all playing and nervous turkeys are still prancing around the farm.

Thanksgiving is a great holiday because it's about getting together, re-connecting and spending time with people you enjoy (mostly ;)!

Happy Thanksgiving month!!

WORDS have MEANING in country songs!

I was recently hired to deejay a wedding of a great couple from the North Shore. They were really nice people, with terrific families and fine friends. They got married at the beautiful Tewksbury Country Club.

When it came to some of their formal dances, they chose beautiful country songs. The bride danced with her father to "I loved her first" by Heartland, the bridal party dance was to Rascal Flatts "My wish" and then there was a special dance for someone who wasn't at the wedding.

The groom's brother was serving in Afghanistan. His wife, 8 1/2 months pregnant, was there with their three year old son. In tribute, all of the guests got on the dance floor and sang Toby Keith's "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue", in his honor.

These songs and their wonderful words helped make the wedding a smashing success and very ...

Looking back to what I wore to school!!!

I have two teenage daughters and, like when I was a kid, they want the latest, greatest, hottest and coolest of everything. It caused me to think back to what I wanted when I was their age.

We didn't have Hollister or Abercrombie jeans, but we did have Sicily, Jordache and Calvin Kleins. Skinny jeans are really huge now, but we had parachute pants...remember all that nylon and zippers?

Air Jordans are back, but Nike was a very young company in the late 70s and early 80s and we wanted the Nike Cortez or Spotbuilt coaching shoes.

The kids all want those NorthFace jackets, but we wanted Member's Only. They cost about the same, too.

I was desperate for a Sony Walkman with a cassette player, but had to settle for radio only version. The cassette style was too expensive. I didn't have any clue as ...
